john-mcphee-racing-team-germany-jerezSession 1 in the morning (a combined session with Moto2) was beset by heavy rain and saw very few runners, John being one of those who chose to stay in the box. The top three were Philipp Oettl, Jakub Kornfeil, and Jasper Iwema who were all in the 2:01 bracket.

There were slightly improved conditions in the first of the two afternoon sessions with John running seventh on 1:59.536 (+1.054 off first) – the top three being Jack Miller, Alex Rins and Brad Binder.

On a damp track in the third session of the day, John ran second with 1:57.801 (0.174 off first place Jack Miller) with Luis Salom in third.

John was happy with the day overall, writing on his Facebook page:
“Good day today. Found a good wet setting and finished 2nd overall. Looking forward to some sun and some dry track time tomorrow!”
