Frustrating start on last year’s bike for John at Valencia test
It was a pretty cold and windy day at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo for the opening day of the Moto3 and Moto2 tests.
John McPhee ran on last year’s FTR Honda today as he was awaiting an engine for his new Honda chassis, which it is hoped should be at the circuit tomorrow – the delays due to disrupted air freight from Japan because of snow and flight cancelations.
John did 15 laps on the old bike, and slid off. It wasn’t the best start to the test days but he was by no means alone, and several other riders also went down during the day. Times were not great so he is hoping for an improvement in the weather tomorrow.
Team mate Efren Vazquez was happy with his short run as he stopped with the wind deciding pushing for times in this weather was not worthwhile. He liked the new bike immediately.

‘Whilst not ideal, it will get me back into it after the winter break and give me direct comparison when I get the new bike. Anyway it’s very cold and a bit windy out there today so times are not good.’
