John McPhee optimistic for a good race at Mugello
John McPhee will start tomorrow’s Mugello GP from the fourth row of the grid.
Both SAXOPRINT RTG riders had hoped for more in today’s qualifying in Mugello. Hopes were high after achieving upper-end positions during FP3 in the morning, but in the afternoon both riders struggled with too much traffic out on track and couldn’t find the right timing to attempt a fast lap.
Despite high speed both were not able to post a quick time and stayed below their fastest lap times from the morning session. Both are hopeful to be able to do better in Sunday’s race. John will be right by his teammate’s side in 11th spot on the grid.
John McPhee
“Today we made some really good progress. The feeling from the bike got better and better. My lap time was becoming faster every time. FP3 was good. I finished in the top 10. This made me happy. In qualifying I was a little bit unlucky. There was always too much traffic at the end. But for tomorrow I am very optimistic to ride a good race.”
