John McPhee qualifies eighth for Aragon GP
Today was the Qualifying session for tomorrow’s Aragon GP at the spectacular Motorland Aragon circuit.
Already – yesterday’s practice day proved tough for the SaxoPrint-RTG squad to compete with the top riders.
There was a similar picture today in Qualifying. For a long time John and teammate Efren Vazquez were only midfield.
While the top riders continued to improve their times, unfortunately it was not possible for the riders of SAXOPRINT-RTG to go faster.
At the end of the session however John made a big step forward, and he was able to hold fifth spot for a long time.
In a fast lap of Jack Miller, a number of riders hung on his rear wheel and improved their times. John fell back to eighth, from where he will start tomorrow’s race.
John McPhee:
“I am happy today with the qualifying. We improved a lot. Overall the bike is feeling really good. And step by step we improve. I am feeling comfortable for the race tomorrow.”
Dirk Heidolf (Team Principal):
“I’m quite satisfied with the results from today, when you consider how close the times are. Our delay is not too large. I think we can be optimistic for tomorrow and will attack again.”
