John McPhee struggles to find good rhythm on day one at Motegi
The first day of practice at Motegi wasn’t a simple day for either John McPhee or teammate Efren Vazquez in the SaxoPrint RTG box.
John in particular had to struggle to find a good rhythm. Although he was quickly in the individual sections of the track, he unfortunately did not manage to compensate it for a fast lap.
With 25th position he remains far behind his own expectations, although the lack of pace was largely down to to gear ratio problems (first too long, second too short), a clutch gremlin and lack of engine braking which caused bike to push on in corners.
John McPhee (rider):
“It was a difficult day today. We had some problems in the morning and I struggled to find a good rhythm at the end. We pushed hard in the second session but it still was not enough. So we have to find something for tomorrow.”
