Motegi delivered an exciting Moto3 race today in the early morning hours. Everybody who got up or stayed up in these early hours to watch the race live on TV, definitely had no regrets.

The riders of the SAXOPRINT Racing Team Germany have achieved by far the best result of the season and go with a lot of points in the bag to Australia.

Both riders had a good start. John McPee was able to maintain his third position and rode from the beginning in the top group whilst teammate Efren Vazquez also began his race to catch up from 14th position from the first lap on.

A group of six riders was able to go on ahead after a few laps. John was the last rider of this group.

With four laps to go John had gone to third position, and for him the podium was potentially very close.

Unfortunately, he later fell back to the sixth position. In the last lap, Kent and Miller did a big mistake, when they went too fast into a tight corner and could´t keep the line.

John very narrowly missed the podium. He was in fourth position across the finish line. A shame to not take his maiden podium today, but nonetheless also a great performance of the young Brit.

John McPhee:
“Today the race was good. We had a really good planing. For me to follow what the best thing to do to try to save the tire. I felt very comfortable portable. The bike was good. My confidence was good. Unfortunately at the end I was a little bit unlucky to miss the podium by 0.2 seconds. But for my confidence the race was quite good. I am happy.”
