John McPhee sets aside highside injuries to qualify 5th
John McPhee secured an excellent second row 5th place start for tomorrow’s Moto3 GP. Despite a big crash in Friday’s FP2 when he high sided and landed heavily on his left shoulder.
Waking up on Saturday morning John wasn’t even sure if he could get on track for day two. His team mates had to help him get out of bed and get dressed. With a lot of pain in his shoulder and collarbone movement is limited and very painful.
John was full of praise for the circuit medical team: “I have to thank all the medical guys here at the circuit who have done a really great job to get me back out on track. I was feeling a bit nervous to start but to get my second best qualifying of the year makes me really happy. But to manage one quick lap in qualifying is one thing, tomorrow is going to be the hard day to get away with that front group and stay with them for the whole of the race distance. I’ll give it my best shot and we just have to wait-and-see.”
