Opening day in Jerez “not easy, but improving” for John McPhee

As in Argentina, the opening day’s practice sessions in Jerez for the Spanish GP were tough for SAXOPRINT RTG rider John McPhee.

The young Scot is currently lacking confidence in the feeling of his bike, although he has felt some improvement during the day and believes there is more to come tomorrow.

Even though the P20 coming out of day one isn’t where John would like to be in the standings, it’s worth bearing in mind that he is nonetheless only 1.3 seconds off the day’s leader Efren Vazquez.

Saturday morning’s FP3 session will see John aiming to pull together an optimum setup ahead of Qualifying.

John McPhee P20 (+1309):
“It was not an easy day for us. In the first practice we had some problems. At the end of the session When I tried to do my best lap we had a problem with the gearbox. The second practice we improved. We are only one second from the front now. Even if twentieth position itself is not so good, the lap time and the feeling from the bike is getting better. We will aim to keep working in the right direction for tomorrow we can get a better result than today. “
