Friday’s opening sessions at Mugello proved a lit bit of a slow burner for SAXOPRINT RTG rider John McPhee today.

FP1 was him struggling in the timesheets, and although not high up in the standings by the end of the session, the young Scot had definitely made progress after work in the box.

FP2 saw further advances and by the end of the day’s running he had moved up to 11th place – and will be planing to improve further for FP3 and Qualifying tomorrow.

“Today was a difficult start in the weekend. It was not so easy to find the correct way to move forward. We had a good plan and a good strategy. We made an improvement in FP1. The feeling for the bike was much better than the practices before. In FP2 I could improve again. So we know that we have the right direction. I have a much better feeling than the races before. So I think positiv for the QP tomorrow.”
