John McPhee makes solid top ten start to his Assen weekend

There was a solid start to the Assen weekend for John McPhee today, building on testing progress and from improvements made at Catalunya.

Although Catalunya itself had not ended with a result that actually reflected this, lessons had been learned regarding setups – and it was on this basis that John started work today.

The settings were better out of the box, and with the Assen track being smoother than Catalunya, were also more effective – and so John has so far avoided making too many changes.

The resulting eighth place in the day’s standings is a positive sign, and a start on which John hopes to build for the remainder of the weekend.

“We had a much more positive start to the weekend. We were in the top ten in both Free Practices today. We did not do many changes on the bike today. We arrived and the bike felt quite good from the start. We only need to improve some small things. I am happy and I am looking forward to tomorrow.”
