In the sweltering heat and smoggy conditions in Malaysia SAXOPRINT RTG rider John McPhee made a solid start to his Sepang weekend with some excellent laps in the opening free practice sessions.

The young Scot rode a great set of laps in Second Free Practice, where he was to be found fairly consistently among the top five riders.

Only in the last five minutes was he pushed back to tenth spot.

In the overall standings on Friday he slips with 0.785 seconds behind the fastest of the day, Danny Kent, back to the 12th position.

Highly motivated, the team is now in the preparations for the next day and the upcoming qualifying.

John McPhee P12 (+0.785):
“For today we made some good progress between the First and the Second Free Practice. We improved the setting a little bit and I felt more confident to do the laptimes alone. I was happy at the end of the session with my laptimes, Because I Did not have slipstream. I think we can make some good steps with the bike till tomorrow. When I am in a good group tomorrow, we can make a good position. “
