John frustrated at Mugello qualifying performance
The Peugeot MC SAXOPRINT team’s riders John McPhee and Alexis Masbou did their best in hot conditions today and despite frustrating qualifying performances both are aiming a strong comeback during tomorrow’s round six at the magnificent Mugello circuit in Italy’s Tuscany.
John gave his maximum during the timed session around midday under bright skies but he and his crew struggled more to adapt to the changed conditions due to the fine weather today. Finally, John qualified 28th.
The season’s classic at the Gran Premio d’Italia is to start at 11:00 am Sunday morning with a challenging 19 lap distance at the 5,2 kilometres world famous Autodromo del Mugello.
#17 John McPHEE, Grid position 28th – 1´59.041 (8/13):
“I’m definitely not happy with today’s qualifying. I was pushing every lap as well we tried to find a good way to go with the bike for this session but in the end this was the best I could do in my maximum lap. To find another tenth wasn’t possible. For sure we have some more work to do ahead of us in order to find a better way. For moment it’s hard to say more because again we’re starting from far down the order. Anyway, we’ll keep working hard to try and improve for the race tomorrow.”
