John expecting difficult race in Catalunya
Peugeot Motocycles SAXOPRINT and its riders today mourn the tragic loss of Spanish Moto2 rider Luis Salom who passed away after an accident during Friday afternoon’s free practice.
Luis Salom was a fierce competitor but also an open and warm hearted character which made him to a much loved person in the MotoGP paddock. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends and the SAG team at this very sad time.
Meanwhile, race action continued with a revised track layout and schedule today at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya so the entire staff in Peugeot Motocycle SAXOPRINT did their best to find the way back to work. But it was another difficult day with qualifying practice which decided the starting grid for Sunday’s seventh race this season.
John McPhee endured a difficult session today in which he set decent lap times but wasn’t happy in general.
The Moto3™ Gran Premi de Catalunya is to start at 11:00 am Sunday morning. Race distance is scheduled with 22 laps at the newly 4.6 kilometres track close to Barcelona.
#17 John McPHEE, Grid position 26th – 1´55.720 (13/13):
“First I would like to express my deepest condolences to Luis’ family and his team. After happenings like this it’s not easy to find the way back so it was a hard session for us. Lap time wise we’re not too far away but overall I’m not happy about this qualifying. It’s going to be a difficult race tomorrow for sure but if I’ll feel well with the bike and I’ll make a good start and also strong opening laps then we can make a good job.”
