The team’s John McPhee delivered an outstanding performance to qualify for eight spot on the grid as fastest rider aboard a Mahindra / Peugeot bike whilst team mate Alexis Masbou struggled to confirm his solid Friday performance today.

Improved weather conditions with bright skies welcomed the paddock this morning and with increased temperatures till lunch time the pace turned up in a highly competitive qualifying for tomorrow’s Moto3 grid at the tight and twisty Sachsenring. The session saw an unpredictable break due to an oil spilling on track after some riders fell in turn four.

It was for the very first time this season that Peugeot Motocycles SAXOPRINT played a significant role throughout the 40 minutes long timed session thanks to the team’s Scottish rider John McPhee who underlined once again his fighting spirit to display the package’s potential after receiving competitive upgrades to the Peugeot Moto3. The 21-year-old rider wrapped up all free session within the top 15 to improve in qualifying as eight fastest in the 35 riders pack.

The last Moto3 race before the summer break, which will start next week, is set to get underway on Sunday 11:00 am. The Moto3 field has to deal with 29 demanding laps at the tricky 3.6 kilometres German circuit.

#17 John McPHEE, Grid position 8th – 1´27.739 (14/16):
“Obviously it’s a very nice feeling to have some light at the end of the tunnel. You know, it has been a difficult start to the year but now we’re making some good progress finally. All weekend so far we ended up in the top 15 and now to qualify in the front three rows is almost perfect. My biggest downfall in the last races was the poor qualifying position and for this reason it was difficult to make a good result in the race. But now I feel we have the good speed and also a strong rhythm so if we can get a proper start then hopefully we can have fun and enjoy a competitive race. I’m really happy, thanks to my team and Peugeot and Mahindra for their great work done.”
