John McPhee turns in outstanding Qualifying at Brno

 In News

Weather conditions were similar to yesterday with a cloudy sky and cool temperatures in the morning before the sun came out and provided teams and riders with almost perfect conditions for the all-important qualifying at lunch time. On-track action turned up likewise the much increased temperatures.

After a difficult start into the weekend, John McPhee and his crew worked hard to improve the feeling with bike and a last minute move to switch to the softer tyre paid off finally. John did a perfect lap to jump to eleventh fastest lap time.

Sunday’s round eleven at the challenging Brno circuit is to set at 11:00 am with a demanding distance over 19 laps.

#17 John McPHEE, Grid position 11th – 2´08.559 (11/11):
“I’m happy about my qualifying because when we arrived here in Brno I knew that we can be strong at this track. But after yesterday’s free practice sessions I was really disappointed. Nevertheless, we worked so hard during night and all these efforts paid off. We made a big step forward to qualify for the fourth row. So I’m really happy for the race tomorrow and I need to say thank you my crew chief Mark (Keen) and the guys in the garage for working so hard with me and helping me to improve in this way. We can look forward to the race now because we have a good feeling with the bike and also a good rhythm. I think that we can make a good job. During qualifying we did consistent fast laps but in the end we had to make a little gamble because in qualifying is more important to set this one strong lap instead of many fast laps. In the end we made a good strategy to go for this hot lap and it worked out perfectly.”
