John happy with race rhythm on Friday

British Talent Team rider John McPhee had a positive Day 1 at the Catalan GP, happy with his rhythm and optimistic about another fight at the front following the race of the millennium for the Moto3™ field at Mugello.

The Brit didn’t set a laptime in FP1 as the day dawned wet in Barcelona, but the better track conditions of FP2 saw McPhee finish Day 1 satisfied and on target after 15 laps.

A few little issues prevented the Brno 2016 winner from putting a fast lap together and McPhee finished the day in P19, but the Scot is ready for a push for the front row tomorrow.

Moto3™ qualify at 12:35pm (GMT +2), as the march continues towards race day.

John McPhee, P19:
“It was a bit of a strange day really with FP1 being a bit of a nothing session, so in FP2 we went with the original plan. The bike felt more or less good from the beginning but we had a couple of little things – not with setup, just some small things it’s easy to fix for tomorrow. So overall we’re happy and we have a clear plan. Laptime wise we’re not far away and I’m feeling confident, we have the lap record from the old circuit here so we’ve got a good base and just need to bring it all together for qualifying.”
