John McPhee satisfied with solid Silverstone Day 1
British Talent Team rider John McPhee had a solid start to the British GP at Silverstone, ending the day in fifteenth on combined times after a somewhat suprisingly sunny day of track action.
In FP1 the Scot was P11 after 15 laps, and only 0.028 off the top ten. In the afternoon, FP2 saw the BTT rider put in a further 14 laps and set his fastest of the day, a 2:14.671. Confident there is time to find and with a couple of small improvements to make for tomorrow, McPhee is optimistic about both qualifying and the race.
The British Talent Team head out to qualify at 12:35 (GMT +1) on Saturday.
John McPhee. P15:
“I’m actually quite happy, because Silverstone is one of the places where the slipstream really benefits the laptime, and today my laptime was completely alone and I did everything myself, with a good rhythm. So we know that in the tow and with the group we’re going to be there. Already alone I can improve my laptime a few tenths here and there, and there are a couple of small things we can improve with the bike, too. Looking towards tomorrow I think it’s only going to be positive. Today the laptimes I got together weren’t perfect but we were still in the top fifteen throughout the session so I’m feeling really good and we can look forward to a good day tomorrow and a good race on Sunday.”
