John McPhee blasts to Brno front row start
PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider John McPhee will start tomorrow’s Czech Grand Prix at the Automotodrom Brno from second place after securing his second front row of the year in a wet qualifying session.
Making the most of a wet practice session in the morning to secure valuable experience in the challenging conditions, McPhee was able to hit the ground running in qualifying. Already heading straight to Q2 after a strong performance in the dry, he was able to set himself up perfectly for tomorrow’s race by coming home in second at the track where he took his debut Grand Prix win in similar conditions back in 2106.
Tomorrow’s 18-lap race at the Automotodrom Brno begins at 1100 local time (1700 Malaysian race).
John McPhee
“Having a wet practice session this morning really helped me out in qualifying, because we treated it like a test run and I tried to find a good rhythm on my own. I’m really happy with another front row, and Brno has been really good to me in the past in both wet and dry conditions so I’m really looking forward to tomorrow. I was fast in the dry yesterday and I feel really good with the bike. The team have done a great job and I turn up every weekend now to a bike that works from Friday. Tomorrow will be a typical Moto3 race with a big group at the front but I can’t wait to get going.”
