PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s John McPhee will line up in the top ten on the grid for tomorrow’s Gran Premio de Aragon, after finishing today’s qualifying session at the MotorLand Aragon circuit in ninth.

John achieved his goal of starting from the front three rows after setting his time early in the Q2 session. Able to match his one-lap speed with even better race pace, he’s going into tomorrow’s race targeting back-to-back podium finishes after finishing second last time out only six days ago in Misano.

Tomorrow’s 19-lap Gran Premio de Aragon at MotorLand Aragon will get underway tomorrow at 1120 local time (1720 Malaysian time).

“I was a bit surprised to end up on the third row, but it’s more than acceptable because we know how much effect the slipstream has on Moto3 bikes at Aragon. It’s always a gamble in qualifying at a track like this because you can do an amazing lap and still lose a second on the straight. Our target was to be on the front three rows and we’ve achieved that. I believe I’ve got better rhythm than many of the other riders, and I’m feeling really strong for the race. If you’re not leading, the slipstream is always working to help you reach the front, so I’m going into tomorrow confident.”
