29th for John McPhee in Moto2 Qualifying debut at Aragon
PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s John McPhee will start the Gran Premio de Aragon – his first ever Moto2 race – from 29th.
John was quick to improve upon his best time from yesterday and set a 1min 54.897secs lap time. Continuing to gather experience aboard the Kalex, as he fills in for Jake Dixon, the Scot ended FP3 32nd. The afternoon’s Q1 session proved to be a positive one for John, who set an early benchmark time of 1min 53.475secs that put him 13th in the extremely competitive class. McPhee did not improve this further and ended Q1 15th, which will see him start his debut Moto2 race from 29th.

29th (1’53.475)I’m really happy with the progress that we’ve made across the last two days. There is so much data and information to digest, to try to help us improve on track, in a short space of time. I’m happy with that job that we’ve done as session-by-session we’ve been closing the gap. We’ve made some big steps forward and so far it’s been a successful weekend. I’m really enjoying riding the bike; it’s been a big learning curve, but it’s also a lot of fun and a really good experience. If I can continue to chip away at the lap times, then I hope that I’m in a position to have a good race and fight with some strong guys tomorrow.
